Getting started

What we need from you to start

Part 1 is access. You give it from your own accounts, mostly by inviting bj@maks.co, so you never share a password with us and can remove us at any time. Part 2 is the facts that go on your listings, and Part 3 is a few decisions. You can send the form more than once, with whatever you have so far.

Access, given from your own accounts

  • Google Business Profile: add bj@maks.co as a Manager.
  • WordPress at soignemaui.com: create an Administrator user for bj@maks.co.
  • GoDaddy, which holds soignemaui.com: invite bj@maks.co through Delegate Access, at the "Domains Only" level.
  • Google Search Console: add bj@maks.co as a Full user, if you know which Google account set it up.
  • Flywheel, which hosts an old copy of your site at soigne.flywheelsites.com: tell us who has that login.
  • Microsoft 365 through GoDaddy: one new mailbox for our outreach emails, such as chefkevin@soignemaui.com. You keep its password.

Facts, typed into the form below

  • Your legal business name for invoices, and the name you want on every listing.
  • Your street address as the post office writes it, and whether customers come there.
  • Your public phone, public email, hours and service area.
  • Your services with one line each, and prices if you want them shown.
  • The year you started, your old business names, and a short bio in your words.
  • Your logo, one cover photo and 10 to 20 photos you own.
  • Every listing or account Soigné already has, such as Yelp, The Knot or Facebook.

Decisions

  • Whether to buy back soignecatering.com for $195.
  • Whether to register soignechef.com.
  • Your OK on a new homepage title, description and heading.
  • A check that mauifarmtofridge.com renews on its own at Squarespace. It expires on 17 April 2027.

Later

  • In week 2, a 30-minute call with your phone in hand, for the codes that Apple, Bing and Yelp send to verify your listings.
  • Before outreach starts, two short steps on a call for the new mailbox: DKIM signing in Microsoft 365, and one sign-in to approve our sending tool.
  • In week 2, your OK on the listing descriptions we write from your answers.
  • Before outreach starts, your OK on the pitch emails and article topics.
  • After that, about five minutes a week.

Part 1

Access from your own accounts

Steps 1 to 4 each send an invitation to bj@maks.co from your own account, so you share no password and can take the access back whenever you like. Step 5 is a name, and step 6 is a new mailbox on your own email that you create and keep the password for.

Step 1 · Google Business Profile

Add bj@maks.co as a Manager

A Manager can edit the profile's details, photos and posts and reply to reviews. Only an Owner can add or remove people or delete the profile, so you stay in control.

On a computer, signed in to the Google account that owns the profile:

  1. Go to business.google.com and open your profile.
  2. Select More (the three dots), then Business Profile settings, then People and access.
  3. At the top left, select Add.
  4. Enter bj@maks.co.
  5. Under Access, choose Manager.
  6. Select Invite.

The reviews link on your About page, g.page/mauifarmtofridge, no longer opens a profile, so the profile may have been renamed or have a second owner.

Step 2 · WordPress

Create a WordPress user for bj@maks.co

We make the homepage changes in Part 3 ourselves, at no charge. WordPress emails us a link to set our own password. Administrator is the role that can add the small plugin that tells Google your address and phone. When the changes are checked, we tell you, and you can delete the user.

You or your web person, at soignemaui.com/wp-admin:

  1. Go to Users, then Add New User.
  2. Username: maksco. Email: bj@maks.co.
  3. Leave Send the new user an email about their account ticked.
  4. Role: Administrator.
  5. Select Add New User.

Step 3 · GoDaddy

Invite bj@maks.co with Delegate Access

GoDaddy holds soignemaui.com and its DNS settings. "Domains Only" is GoDaddy's lowest level that lets us manage your domains and set up forwarding. No delegate, at any level, can manage your payment methods, see your order history, or see or change your password.

  1. Sign in at account.godaddy.com/access, the Delegate Access page.
  2. Under People who can access my account, select Invite to Access.
  3. Name: maks.co. Email: bj@maks.co.
  4. Choose Domains Only.
  5. Select Invite. If GoDaddy shows a Transfer Access option, leave it off.

The invitation expires if we don't accept it within 48 to 72 hours, so please text or email us when you send it.

Step 4 · Google Search Console, if you know it

Add bj@maks.co as a Full user

Search Console shows which Google searches bring people to soignemaui.com. Someone has set it up for your domain already, perhaps through the Site Kit plugin on your site. A Full user can see every report and submit your sitemap, but cannot add or remove other users. If you don't know which Google account set it up, skip this step, and we will get in through WordPress instead.

  1. Open the soignemaui.com property at search.google.com/search-console.
  2. Go to Settings, then Users and permissions, then Add user.
  3. Enter bj@maks.co and set the permission to Full.
  4. Save.

Step 5 · Flywheel

Tell us who holds the Flywheel login

soigne.flywheelsites.com is a full old copy of your website, and Google has pages from it in its index, as if it were a second Soigné site. It is a separate site from soignemaui.com, which runs on Bluehost. Whoever holds that Flywheel account, perhaps the designer who built your site in 2022, can do either of these:

  • Add bj@maks.co as a collaborator on that one site, with + Add Collaborators in the Flywheel dashboard. We then take the copy out of Google and remove ourselves.
  • Or switch it off themselves: in the Flywheel dashboard, open the site, go to the Overview tab and turn on Privacy Mode. That puts the copy behind a password, and Google drops it.

If nobody uses the copy and Soigné pays Flywheel for it, deleting that site also ends the bill.

Step 6 · Microsoft 365 through GoDaddy

Add one mailbox at soignemaui.com for the outreach emails

We write to Maui wedding planners, villa managers and local sites to ask for links to soignemaui.com. Those emails go out from a mailbox of their own on your domain, inside the Microsoft 365 email you already have, so they never come from your own inbox.

Pick the address

Not kevin@soignemaui.com, which stays your own inbox.

Then, signed in to GoDaddy:

  1. Go to the Email & Office Dashboard and select Add user.
  2. If GoDaddy asks, choose the Microsoft 365 account type, then the domain soignemaui.com, then Continue. If you have no unused mailbox, GoDaddy asks you to pick a plan and buy one. Choose the same type as your own mailbox. The price shows at checkout, and it is a cost to Soigné outside our fee.
  3. Username: the name you picked above. First and last name: as you want them to appear on our emails, for example Kevin Bell.
  4. Administrator permissions: No.
  5. Password: choose a strong one and keep it to yourself. We never need it.
  6. Send account info to: your own address, not ours. Then select Create.

The new mailbox then sits unused for a week while the rest of the setup runs. Before the first email goes out, there are two short steps that we do together on a call. You turn on DKIM email signing for soignemaui.com in Microsoft 365, which helps your own email too. Then you sign in once as the new mailbox on a Microsoft link we send and approve our sending tool. That gives the tool its own access, so we still never see the password, and you can withdraw it at any time.

Nothing needed from you for these

  • Bluehost, which hosts your live site. If a change ever needs a theme file, we will ask your web person.

Part 2

About the business

Every listing must show the same name, address and phone as your Google profile, so we copy them from here exactly as you write them.

As it is registered with the State of Hawaii.

Your website says Soigné, its page title says Soigne, and Birdeye, BeachBride and IslandSpots say Soigne Maui. Google wants the real name you trade under, with no extra words.

Your website says 60 E. Wakea, Kahului, HI 96732. Please write it the way the post office does, with Ave or St and any unit number.

Do customers come to this address?

If nobody visits, Google wants the address hidden and a service area shown instead, and every listing follows the same choice.

Your website shows 808.757.6184.

Your website shows kevin@soignemaui.com.

Some directories have a price field. Leave this empty to show no prices.

Count the years under Soigné Catering or Maui Farm to Fridge, if those came first.

Your site mentions experience from Michelin-star restaurants. We repeat that only in the words you write here.

Your logo (the largest file you have), one wide cover photo and 10 to 20 photos you own. A shared Google Drive, Dropbox or iCloud folder works, or email the files to bj@maks.co.

So we claim them instead of making duplicates: Yelp, The Knot, WeddingWire, Zola, Thumbtack, Facebook, Tripadvisor, Apple Maps, Bing or any other. For each one, say which email it is under. We already know your Instagram and YouTube.

Part 3

Your old domains and your homepage

soignecatering.com, your old domain

It is for sale for $195, as a buy-it-now on Afternic with checkout at GoDaddy: expireddomains.com/domain/soignecatering.com. Other sites still link to it, and today those links lead to that sale page. If you buy it while signed in to the GoDaddy account that holds soignemaui.com, it arrives in that account within 24 hours. We then forward it to soignemaui.com with a permanent (301) redirect, so those links point at your site again. After the first year it renews at GoDaddy's yearly price.

Buy it back?

soignechef.com, an older domain

Nobody owns it today. If you register it in the same GoDaddy account, for GoDaddy's yearly .com price, nobody else can take it, and we forward it to soignemaui.com.

Register it?

mauifarmtofridge.com

This one already forwards to your site. It is registered through Squarespace and expires on 17 April 2027. Please check that auto-renew is on in that Squarespace account, so it can't lapse the way soignecatering.com did.

Your homepage wording

Five of the six private chef sites that ranked above Soigné for "private chef Maui" on 1 October put Maui in their page title. Yours says "World-Class Private Chefs - Soigne". We propose:

Title, the blue link in Google
Private Chef and Catering on Maui | Soigné
Description, the lines under it
Private chef dinners, weddings and events, and Farm to Fridge meals across Maui, from Chef Kevin Bell and the Soigné team in Kahului.
Main heading on the page
Private chef and catering on Maui

We also add a hidden block that tells Google your business name, address and phone, built from your answers in Part 2, and we fix the reviews link on your About page so it opens your Google profile again.

Your OK

Part 4

Send it to us

Sealed box, only if you ever need it

Nothing on this page needs it. If some login turns out to have no invite option and you decide to give it to us, put it here, never in the other boxes. Your browser locks what you type here before it leaves your device. Only maks.co can unlock it, with a key kept on our own computer. The website and the email it travels in carry only the locked version.

Send what you have now, and come back to send more as you finish it. Your answers stay saved in this browser until they are sent. The sealed box is never saved.
